How to Increase Employee Motivation with Inspirational Leadership
A lack of inspiration stops more achievements than a lack of skill. Falling into the fear of failure, lack of confidence, and concern of rejection hold you back from making progress.
If you care about your inspirational leadership, this week is for you.
I. If everyone were motivated all the time, we would need fewer leaders.
What it means:
Employees are human, and there are days when they struggle with things like motivation. Instead of complaining about it like most managers, consider their lack of motivation as an opportunity for your leadership to shine.
Now is not the time to embrace your responsibility to inspire others. Everyone needs people in their life that are willing and able to encourage them.
Stop looking for comfort as a leader. Embrace what is hard.
II. Managers motivate. Leaders Inspire.
What it means:
Inspiration and motivation, while often used interchangeably from a leadership perspective, are similar but play different roles in influencing employee behavior and performance. Inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something. It comes from the Latin word meaning “to breathe life into.”
Managers try to motivate primarily with fear, but fear tends to cause inaction. Inspiration, on the other hand, ignites creativity, passion, and a sense of purpose in someone who wouldn’t have gotten there on their own.
III. If you want a recipe to be inspired, spend time with people and consume content that breathes life into you.
What it means:
Spending time with Dr. Will Sparks on this week’s episode of The John Eades Podcast was a stark reminder that if you spend time with people who breathe life into you, you will leave inspired.
When the people closest to you and the content you consume serve your higher purpose, inspiration follows. If getting inspirational people around you daily isn’t easy, be intentional about the content you consume.
I hope this newsletter and the content you consume from me is a source of inspiration in your life. Because we all need it…daily.
Keep Leading Your Best,
